Climate writing for the Climatebase

Background

Climatebase is: a platform for job-seekers, a source of weekly climate news for climate leaders and subscribers, and an accelerator for climate entrepreneurs.

I wanted to write articles that would:

  • attract more businesses to post jobs on their site

  • get more subscribers to apply to those jobs

For job seekers and climate companies, I identified two problems:

  • climate companies struggle to get applicants because people think they need climate experience

  • applicants are intimidated by the jargony, doom-and-gloom language climate companies use

Action

To speak to all these needs I wrote a series where I:

  • interviewed CEOs and leaders at fast-growing climate companies looking to hire new talent

  • used engaging and easy-to-understand language to describe what those companies did

  • asked those leaders who they were looking to hire so readers would feel more confident applying

Results

  • The companies I interviewed reported an increase in job applicants

  • More companies reached out to ask for their own profile
